2018 Tech Champion Winner

The Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) today announced the selection of Angela Jackson, co-founder and managing director of Portland Seed Fund and director of the Portland State University (PSU) Business Accelerator, as the recipient of the 2018 Tech Champion Award. Jackson will be recognized at the Oregon Technology Awards ceremony on May 10, which celebrates excellence and achievement within the region’s dynamic technology community.

Jackson was selected for the first-ever Tech Champion Award due to her positive impact in the tech and startup sectors as well as the greater Oregon community. She had a successful career as a serial entrepreneur and principal at an incubator and investment fund before her current roles with Portland Seed Fund and the PSU Business Accelerator.

“I’m thrilled to be honored with the Tech Champion Award,” said Jackson. “Oregon’s startup and technology communities are vibrant, and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to play a role in building their future.”

Jackson’s leadership has had an outsized impact on the local community: Portland Seed Fund has invested $6 million in high-wage jobs and created more than 1,000 of these jobs, mostly in Oregon, and more than 30 companies are mentored annually at the PSU Business Accelerator. Founders invested in or incubated by Portland Seed Fund and the PSU Business Accelerator have gone on to become important angel investors and mentors to the next generation of companies in Oregon.

In both roles, Jackson leverages investments and relationships to help startups and entrepreneurs achieve big goals in fields ranging from technology and consumer products to clean tech and mobile service industries.

“The Tech Champion Award recognizes a leader outside the tech community that has had a powerful impact in the Oregon and Southwest Washington tech community,” said Skip Newberry, TAO President and CEO. “Angela’s skill and passion for starting, building and growing companies makes her invaluable to the tech community. We are proud to recognize Angela for her contributions and achievements.”

Now in its 34th year, the 2018 Oregon Technology Awards Program is presented by JLL and United HealthCare. TAO anticipates that the event will draw more than 600 attendees, including entrepreneurs and tech professionals from across the region and around the globe.

Tickets to the May 10 event can be purchased here.
