The Chief Data Officer: Creating Strategic Roadmaps for a Company

DASL Blog

In September 2020, CIO Magazine asked, “What is a Chief Data Officer?” as the role proliferated at companies worldwide. The article’s authors concluded that the Chief Data Officer – or CDO – is a “leader who creates business value from data…”oversees a range of data-related functions to ensure your organization is getting the most from what could be its most valuable asset.”

The TAO Data Analytics Strategy & Leadership Community’s (DASL) hosted their final event of 2021 with the State of Oregon’s first Chief Data Officer, Kathryn Helms, to the community. Kathryn will share her experience in the CDO role, how her team built the state’s first data strategy and how leveraging statewide public sector data best serves Oregon’s citizens. Participants had a chance to ask the expert questions related to analytic strategy, data management, data governance, and rolling out analytic programs at their organizations.
