Why is your company a member of TAO?
SurveyMonkey Portland was the company headquarters during our first 10 years of existence and has been a key company hub in our second 10 years. TAO represents the unique and innovative mix of tech companies in our region and the passionate and thoughtful teams that drive those companies. We are honored to be a part of that group.
What do you, personally, like best about being a TAO member?
TAO gives member companies and employees the chance to take part in meaningful collective action. It’s easy to stay focused on one’s own company when making decisions; being a part of TAO is a constant reminder to think and act more broadly. What new voices can we bring to the table? Who can we learn from and partner with to make better collective decisions? How can we use our influence to demand equitable systems change? TAO gives SurveyMonkey Portland a lens through which to better and more holistically understand our role in shaping our community.
What’s your favorite thing about our region’s tech ecosystem?
The tech ecosystem in the region represents a wide array of company stages and solutions to customer problems. The common thread across the ecosystem is the creativity of the people who are building products and supporting customers in the region. There is a unique creative spirit in the region that is reflected in our colleagues and friends.
What is your hope for the future of tech in Oregon & SW Washington?
One of our aims at SurveyMonkey is to break down systems of racism and create a diverse and inclusive environment that better represents the communities where we live and work. We have a lot of work to do in this area, and our hope for the future of tech mirrors our company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
