How would you describe it?We serve the communities of Douglas County. 50% of the population live in rural communities surrounding Roseburg, a city of 25,000. Our 5134 square miles are largely made up of forests, farmland and the entirety of the Umpqua River watershed.Briefly describe a few of your Hub’s current initiatives. The Umpqua Valley STEAM hub supports families, educators, youth-serving organizations and community members to provide quality STEAM learning activities to youth Pre-K to 20. We provide professional learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, artful innovation and math with an emphasis on developing strong STEAM thinking skills. We support a resource lending library for educators to access STEAM resources and sponsor a variety of community events to promote STEAM education. We also support career-connected learning with an emphasis on career and leadership development in STEAM careers through the web-based platform, Oregon Connections and through clubs and camps. How can Technology Association of Oregon and its members support your work?We would love to know if there are any tech companies associate with TAO in the Roseburg area to partner with as we implement computer science in our schools. We are just beginning this work and need business/industry support.
