Portland, Ore. – March 29, 2017 – The Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) has announced Lew Cirne, CEO and founder of New Relic, as the keynote speaker at the 2017 Oregon Technology Awards on May 11th at the Oregon Convention Center. Cirne brings with him more than 20 years’ experience as a technologist and entrepreneur who has focused much of his career promoting digital intelligence technology.

For his keynote, Cirne will join TAO president and CEO Skip Newberry onstage for a fireside chat. During the chat, Cirne and Newberry will discuss a multitude of topics relevant to the booming Oregon technology community, including how to take a business public without losing your cool; grow without sacrificing innovation; why Oregon is the place to lay technology roots; and how to scale a business and culture.

“Oregon’s technology community is a thriving, vibrant place full of inventors, innovators, and groundbreakers,” Cirne said. “I am proud that New Relic is a leader in our community, and I am excited to be a part of honoring the best of the best at this year’s Oregon Technology Awards.”

Cirne joins two-time emcee Monica Enand, founder and CEO at Zapproved on stage this year. The Oregon Technology Awards celebrates excellence and achievement in the region’s technology industry and honors outstanding individuals with prestigious Lifetime Achievement and Technology Executive of the Year awards. Seven companies will be recognized for their accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to the industry and community in other award categories.

“With New Relic’s global product and engineering headquarters in Portland, the local office has been an important contributor to New Relic’s growth and success as a company and to the local tech community,” said Skip Newberry, TAO president and CEO. “With so many up-and-coming tech startups and growth-stage tech companies in the region, we are thrilled to have Lew share his insights on what it takes to scale a company to a successful IPO and beyond.”

The 2017 Oregon Technology Awards Program is presented by JLL and United Healthcare. This year marks its 33rd year, and TAO anticipates drawing more than 600 attendees, including entrepreneurs and tech professionals from across the region and around the globe.
