The job will require a strong engineering background and successful track record providing secure software solutions in AWS to a variety of consumers, customers, partners, and stakeholders across the globe. Each security engineer will be responsible for the full life cycle of the solution, including design, code development, refactoring, data migrations, code reviews, testing, tuning, deployment activities, post-deployment support, and documentation.

You will be a key player for the organization. You’ll do everything from day-to-day working on a scrum team to ensure we identify and resolve security issues, to taking on challenges with

customers, scaling and performance testing, and all with long-term objectives in mind. As SheerID continues to grow, you’ll have the opportunity to grow with the company. You’ll be responsible for code review and providing constructive feedback on security initiatives from engineers. You will provide technical leadership and mentoring on the latest security industry best practices, tools, and technologies in collaboration with engineers. You’ll help to select and work with our internal tools; becoming an expert at any tools and technology needed to get the job done.

Our security team members are dynamic individuals capable of bringing a broad range of experience, as well as deep functional knowledge, to the team. They’ll be comfortable with security threat prevention and have a strong desire to learn more. We require experience with full life cycle database and application development in a hands-on role. Experience developing automated end-to-end testing is a must. This position cares deeply about the experience and satisfaction of the user and our customers. You’ll be responsible for working with our information security, product, sales, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure that the products we develop are secure, reliable, and well-tested. The ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with and learning from other developers in a team environment - building quality security software and ensuring security is everyone’s responsibility.

Role Specific Job Duties

  • Plan, test and implement advanced software security techniques within the full software development life cycle
  • Design and deploy secure software applications using Java, React, Mongo, Puppet, Containers, and AWS
  • Integrate with third-party web services and databases to expand the depth and breadth of eligibility verification services
  • Work directly with complex client security requirements, providing unwavering follow-through to execute and improve underlying controls
  • Collaborate with our QA team to organize and implement ongoing security testing
  • Automate tasks and build tools that make SheerID more secure, productive, and efficient
  • Write/maintain documentation for the client and other team members
  • Design, develop and maintain secure REST web services and applications
  • Provide a critical role in an agile environment working against light requirements
  • Participate in story writing and grooming
  • Write unit and integration tests for new and existing code
  • Contribute to our collective brainpower through innovation, training, and peer review
  • Apply secure methodologies and best practices to translate user needs and business requirements into engaging user-centered design

Bonus if you have...

  • Experience with additional security frameworks such as PCI, ISO, and FedRAMP
  • Experience with Containers and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Jenkins or similar distributed build systems
  • Familiarity with Puppet or similar configuration management systems
  • Experience with and understanding of test-driven development
  • Expertise in debugging scale and performance issues
  • Current with web and responsive design practices, UI design, and layout principles
  • An eye for good design, great interactive experiences, and user-centered design
  • Scripting, using a wide range of frameworks and libraries
  • Experience with Looker, Redshift, and Python for data analysis
  • Experience with Javascript frameworks

Required Skills/ Experience

  • Experience with SOC 2 & GDPR, especially in the context of FinServ
  • Experience with AWS tools, including S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation
  • Experience creating and working with REST APIs
  • 5+ years of full-stack object-oriented software design and development, preferably with serviceable experience in Java EE
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and no-SQL databases (MongoDB, CouchDB, ElasticSearch, etc.), database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Experience with secure software design fundamentals; techniques, standards, and methods for authentication and authorization; applied cryptography
  • Experience with continuous threat assessment and risk mitigation
  • Ability to perform code review and provide constructive feedback on security-related changes
  • Ability to provide guidance around secure integrations with third-party web services and data sources to expand the depth and breadth of eligibility verification services
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot across multiple browsers and devices
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Strong logic and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
  • Passion for delivering strong, dependable code
  • Passion for exploring new security tools, techniques, and methodologies
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work on a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to work with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision with latitude for independent judgment
  • Understands stage-appropriate quality work, with attention to detail, analytics & security
  • Strong track record of technical leadership and mentoring to both engineers and stakeholders
