Description

As a Sr Data Engineer, you will be building and managing data pipelines, designing and architecting databases for the entire organization.  You will own the end to end development of data engineering solutions to support analytical needs of the business, both internally to the BI Team as well as self-service data models.

Business Unit Functions:

  • Run and support a production data platform that supports the business
  • Build data expertise, act like an owner for the company and manage complex data systems
  • Determine the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source system and moving it into the data ecosystem
  • Establish data/information architectural standards, a process for maintaining the standards and a process of monitoring compliance to those standards across the team
  • Formulate and recommend standards for achieving maximum performance and efficiency of the DW ecosystem
  • Develops and maintains the metadata management repository and data lineage for source data, intermediate data and target repositories including common information models

Essential Functions:

  • Develop a deep understanding of business information needs; design and implement scalable and performant solutions to address those needs
  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for data warehouse and business intelligence tools, roadmap development and maintenance projects
  • Write high-quality, well-tested, observable code that runs smoothly in production and elevates the standards across the team
  • Remain current with technology, tools and the latest analytical methods; maintain willingness to learn new skills
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as data dictionaries, business glossaries, metric definitions and other data resources
  • Be an active member of your team
    • Take part in solution reviews
    • Participate in planning & retrospective meetings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field preferred, experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience in BI architecture design, data modeling, data warehouse design, ETL, and OLAP structures
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS
  • 5+ years of experience with the Microsoft BI delivery stack, including SharePoint, Power BI, Power View, Power Pivot, Power App, Flow, and Excel
  • 3+ years of experience designing and maintaining data warehouses in Azure, AWS or similar environment
  • Experience working within an Agile development team
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience in multidimensional database design, and SQL Server Tabular Models (Star Schema)
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing SQL performance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High energy, focused on the goal, definitive
  • Ability to multitask, and a good judge of where to focus time and effort
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in pictures and words that are understandable to a broad (including non-technical) audience
  • Experience with Python or other object-oriented languages preferred
  • Experience in Master Data Management preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and CRM a plus
