Pacific Star Communications, a Curtiss-Wright company, is looking for class-leading Software Quality Assurance (QA) Engineers to join us at our Portland, Oregon facility. You will develop the tests needed to find, investigate, report, and track defects in our cutting-edge Network Management Systems.
You will report to the Software QA Manager and ultimately be responsible for designing, documenting, implementing, and executing tests to evaluate the functionality, robustness, and performance of our systems. The successful candidate must have demonstrable test design experience across the full scope (hardware, firmware, software) of multiple complex projects and must show their ability to collaborate with their QA and Developer teammates.

Faithfully represent customer needs and expectations for the entire system throughout the full development lifecycle
Use experience with networking concepts to anticipate and document errors introduced by design assumptions
Develop automated tests for both regression and new functionality
Provide data and support for the reporting of key metrics
Engage with Engineering Team and Product Owners to evaluate and verify the quality of user stories and acceptance criteria
Verify the fitness of PacStar developed systems using manual black-box test strategies
Develop test strategies and test cases to maximize coverage and evaluate new technology, features, and/or functionality
Design and execute test cases to support concurrent research and development projects
Identify customer use cases and setup workflow-based test scenarios
Enter and manage clear, detailed defect reports
Troubleshoot and debug problems in the environment, within the equipment, and in new functionality
Contribute to project scheduling and planning activities
Manage test lab equipment
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, research or laboratory science fields
Multiple projects self-directed test design experience with complex multi-disciplinary technologies
Demonstrable experience troubleshooting complex multi-tier, multi-vendor systems
Demonstrable experience designing functional, negative, performance, and integration tests for software and hardware systems
Experience working closely with System Engineering and Development teams to identify areas of risk and prioritize test tasks
Experience identifying errors and faulty assumptions in early design phases
Proven track recording of finding defects in complex systems
Proven ability to communicate and interact with customers and team members of all experience levels
Comprehensive understanding and wide application of technical principals, theories and concepts in the fields of network management, system validation and verification
Familiarity and comfort performing in light agile system development methodologies
Basic Familiarity with .Net test issues
Ability to describe and use common validation and verification topics including Use case identification, experimental design, test plan design, task scheduling, and risk management
Comfort configuring common network appliances including router, switches, access points, fire walls, modems and security appliances
Ability to read, modify and create Cisco iOS device configuration files
Familiarity with Windows Domain and Active Directory administration
Ability to articulate and use core networking concepts including: network protocols, FTP, packet sniffing, certificate management, PKI, IPv4 Subnetting and Radius Authentication
Ability to set up and maintain a complex TCP/IP network
Familiarity with VMware and VSphere
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
Must be able to self-organize workloads and manage all deadlines
