We are looking for an experienced and creative Mobile/Web App Designer to join our team!

As a Mobile/Web App Designer, you will be taking ownership of app design and user experience to bring our industry-changing app to the next level. Through innovative solutions and outside-the-box thinking you will be responsible for delivering the best possible user experience for our growing community of contractors and tradespeople. Your role is extremely important for our success and ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and prototype elegant solutions for web and mobile apps
  • Modify and revise existing designs to meet customer and business expectations
  • Create design concepts and drawings
  • Employ design concepts into functional prototypes
  • Present product ideas to relevant team members for brainstorming
  • Suggest improvements to design and performance to product managers
  • Implement features and perform audits of existing features to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Coordinate with management team to ensure accurate communication and efficiency in the design phase
  • Write-up design specifications for our development teams in India, Ecuador, and in-house
  • Manage and create tasks in a company-wide project management system
  • Communicate design solutions to team and stakeholders
  • Plan and conduct competitor analysis
  • Conduct ongoing research in order to understand user needs, business goals, and objectives
  • Develop technical and business requirements and always strive to deliver engaging and user-centered solutions
  • Create user stories, personas, and storyboards
  • Work with development team to plan and conduct usability testing
  • Analyze product metrics such as daily sessions, time-on-page, and goal completion rate in order to evaluate effectiveness of existing copy
  • Write compelling, user-friendly copy that guides the user and embodies the voice of the brand
  • Collaborate across different teams to ensure that copy is in line with both the branding and business goals
  • Combine UX thinking with design execution, to produce usable and intuitive user interfaces
  • Take input from user tests/feedback and other design research to inform design decisions
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team to evolve and refine our design system, ensuring visual cohesion and engineering efficiency across all user touch points
  • Help build out design processes, tools, and culture
  • Perform research on product technologies and structures to implement into design concepts
  • Occasionally build and maintain web; sites, pages, contact forms, surveys, etc.
  • Create engaging and relevant mailers for new releases and in-app notifications.
  • Work with business and development team to develop inventive new engagement strategies

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience with React Native
  • UI design portfolio
  • Passionate about implementing designs and ideas that help our users get their work done easier and more efficiently
  • Knowledge of Adobe range of products including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Microsoft Office (or similar office suite).
  • Ability to discuss and explain design options
  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Some knowledge of Usability Factors in Human Computer Interaction.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to understand data and convert it into effective copy
  • A strong command of contemporary design tools
  • Experience with user research such as surveys, interviews, and usability testing
  • Background in designing for mobile-first platforms
  • An understanding of design patterns
  • A solid foundation in layout and design
  • Relevant work experience as a product designer is preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal
  • Good understanding of color science and combinations
  • Artistic and innovative flair
  • Meticulous and diligent
  • Able to sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time

Preferred:

  • 3 years of experience as an UI-UX Designer or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 2 years of experience with HTML5 & CSS3
  • Knowledge / experience with coding (python, js, ruby, etc.)
  • Some experience with: MySQL, MS Excel (or google sheets) formulas
