Our mission is to build shared prosperity for the region through travel, trade and economic development. The Manager of IT Business Systems will oversee the delivery of services and solutions related to the Port’s core enterprise IT systems such as Financial & HR systems, Timekeeping, Project Portfolio Management, Budget Entry and Reporting, Asset Management and Procurement as well as several in-house developed systems like Engineering Document, Construction and Wildlife Management. This is an exciting opportunity to support value driven initiatives from an IT management perspective, coordinating team plans, goals, and service delivery across the organization.

In this position, you’ll have an opportunity to work a hybrid schedule typically working two days in office each week with the remainder working remote.

* This position is classified as FLSA exempt which means it is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of a 40-hour work week

Summary of Essential Responsibilities

  • Leverage technical expertise and knowledge to deploy and maintain best-of-breed enterprise systems.
  • Support systems required to integrate and interface data among various internal systems as well as systems maintained by external partners.
  • Plan and direct the operations and maintenance of related IT programs.
  • Identify and oversee application upgrade cycles to stay current with vendor’s infrastructure and platform upgrades.
  • Manage complex projects as part of the Port’s capital program or operating initiatives including upgrades for existing applications or the introduction of new systems.
  • Active member of the IT management team, contributing to strategic plans for coordination and implementation of new technologies and renewal and/or replacement of existing applications.
  • In coordination with other IT teams ensure a secure application and data environment that supports capital and operating projects that extend the usage of applications.
  • Work with key customers and vendors to develop ongoing application support strategies to successfully deliver application services.
  • Identify staff development opportunities in support of planning efforts to effectively grow employee professional development.
  • Actively coach and mentor staff and perform appraisal and pay administration during merit cycle process.

Minimum Requirements/Skills and Abilities

  • BA/BS/CS degree, or equivalent, in Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or related area.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible work experience with application systems management, implementation, and support with minimum of 3 years’ project and/or team leadership/management experience.
  • Demonstrated team leadership in a multi-vendor environment, application implementation, development, and support.
  • Working knowledge of information technology concepts related to business systems solutions and integration requirements for projects necessitating coordination between IT disciplines.
  • Experience with all phases of the systems lifecycle – analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation, and decommissioning.
  • IT security best practices and IT design patterns and best practices.

We know you might not have experience in all areas but are looking for familiarity with most:

  • Complex multi-vendor technology environment including enterprise solutions (e.g. financial, HR, maintenance, procurement) and operational systems supporting various business functions.
  • Project management skills for development of specific projects to implement new solutions or to upgrade existing applications.
  • Experience with various software development environments
  • SharePoint, Office365, and other Microsoft products
  • ITSM tools such as ServiceNow
  • Cloud IaaS and PaaS solutions, including Azure and Amazon Web Services
  • Experience adapting emerging technology trends to fit an enterprise infrastructure

Demonstrated skills:

  • Strong IT applications management experience appropriate to a 24 x 7 environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Prioritization and workload planning in a dynamic environment with multiple initiatives competing for the same resources, often with tight deadlines.
  • Adapt to changing priorities due to dynamic business environment by being flexible and adaptable to evolving situations.
