The IT Career Instructor is responsible for providing front-line and renowned technical training to CompTIA Technical Career Academy students through our licensed and custom classes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead instruction and student assessment, ensuring students are working toward the competencies of course level and program learning outcomes
  • Maintain, develop and continuously improve online and classroom-based learning content, lab projects and assessments
  • Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism
  • Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested
  • Proactively and effectively communicate with Manager, Faculty Affairs
  • Adhere to the priorities, objectives and guidance of Manager, Faculty Affairs
  • Produce effective training presentations, tutorials, instructor and student guides, lesson plans/exercises in multiple media and formats suitable to course audience
  • Manage all aspects of execution and delivery of course curriculum
  • Manage the day-to-day activities and overall classroom experience for all participants

Education and/or Experience:

  • Knowledge of the IT industry and entry-level IT positions
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 2-4 years of teaching experience or honorable military service
  • Prior experience with technical training and writing is preferred
  • Current CompTIA A+ certifications are required, or willing to take and pass the exam within 30 days of employment
  • Advanced IT certifications preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly translating technical terms/processes into layman terms
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Strong comfort level with new technology
  • Travel requirements: 25%

Access to and respect for confidential information: Individual may come across personal information of candidates in the program and will need to keep information confidential.

Language Skills: Proficiency in the English language required. Preferred proficiency in the Spanish language desired.

Complexity Skills: Work requires the ability to teach students of varying education levels any of the CompTIA exams. One must be able to train concisely, to all levels, and to make strong connections between the material and student. Ability to manage multiple classes (sometimes simultaneously), provide data and input as needed, and adhere to company standards is a must. Instructor must be able to communicate with not only the students, but customers as well. This communication should always represent CompTIA in a positive manner.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze student performance in classes and work to meet their areas of concern/trouble. Requires careful analysis, observation and problem-solving skills.

Internal and External Interactions: Interactions occur inside and outside the organization, frequently on a daily basis and must be clear, concise, and professional.

Other Requirements: Must be proficient in the MS office suite of products and able to learn SaaS tools such as Smartsheet, Slack, and others.
