How Does Your Health Plan Stack Up?

Health care is changing fast and HR executives across Oregon are wondering if their company’s plan is keeping pace.  On July 20th, TAO hosted the first of three summer webinars to help HR executives navigate the landscape of benefits, employee engagement, and technology.

Over the hour-long webinar, three guest speakers shared their insights on the ‘secret sauce’ that is the key to healthier employees and lower costs.  Jim Walton, VP of Business Development at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, presented benchmark data illustrating how cost-sharing is shifting for different employer sizes.  He also highlighted how those shifts are being managed with cost containment programs, wellness plans, and employee engagement.  This transitioned to Tracey Heeter Allen, Vice President at Woodruff-Sawyer & Co. who summarized market trends and new, innovative tools that are growing in popularity.  Lastly, one such tool was demo’d by Chip Parkinson, President of OmedaRx.  He showed attendees the MedSavvy application, which gives patients unprecedented access to data and insights on prescription medications.

If you missed the webinar and are interested in these topics, a recording is available to TAO members.  Email our Membership Manager, Armando Gonzalez for a link.  Not sure if your company is a member of TAO?  He will also have the answer!

The second webinar in this three part series is coming up on Wednesday, August 17th at 11:30am.  We’ll be taking a deeper dive into the topic of innovation and technology in health care with another set of guest speakers.  Through our partnership with Regence and our HR Community volunteers, we know that this is the time of year when HR practitioners are making decisions about their employees’ health plans.  We hope you will be able to join us and get some tips and insights on these decisions.  Register now for the 17th!
