CBT Nuggets Supplies Meals for Local Community & Provides Access to Online IT Cert Training

During this unprecedented time, Technology Association of Oregon will be featuring the benefits and value that TAO member companies can provide to our greater community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shelly Galvin, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Engagement at CBT Nuggets, shares what the company is doing to support its community, both locally in Bend and Eugene and nationwide through its online training platform.

TAO Member Company: CBT Nuggets

Give us a short intro to your business:
CBT Nuggets provides online, on-demand, self-paced training for IT professionals, and those who want to become IT and technology professionals. We provide innovative online video training that’s informative, meaningful, and engaging. Our comprehensive library of courses contains thousands of training videos on the most in-demand technologies, from Cisco networking to Microsoft Word. Whether you want to train for a new career, pass a certification exam, or expand your skills, we’ve got you covered!

What resources can your business offer the community during the COVID pandemic?:
CBT Nuggets has encouraged its 160 employees to work from home through April. However, it will continue to pay caterers for its Eugene and Bend offices during this period — allowing them to prep meals that will be donated to those in need in both communities. CBT Nuggets will be donating meals and snacks to 15th Night and Ronald McDonald Charities in Eugene, and Shepherd’s House Ministries in Bend.

CBT Nuggets has created and curated resources for teachers and parents for online learning at teach.gg, and we invite everyone to join our recently launched discord server here.

Further, as an ongoing project, our NuggetLove philanthropy program provides 6 months of free access to our online IT Cert Training platform for those affected by layoffs through unemployment offices and corporate HR offices. We are happy to work with contacts at local unemployment offices or with HR teams to provide training to those facing layoffs- it is a simple and easy process. Just reach out to us for more info!

What is the best way for the community to get in touch?:
Email Shelly Galvin at sgalvin@cbtnuggets.com.

What's your favorite way to pass the time during self-quarantine?:
Learning, of course! I'm learning Polish to surprise my brother's new wife when I visit them in Poland and I am training to earn my certification in the 6 Team Conditions framework.

What's one thing that helps you stay positive or gives you hope during difficult times?:
We have initiated a "Virtual Open Spaces" program at CBT which allows our fitness instructors to continue to teach virtual classes and invites team members to host virtual coffees, skills shares/teach it forwards, led meditations, and our Director of Product even hosts a kid's reading hour to give our working parents a break! It's awesome.
