New Name Reflects Diversity of Association’s Membership

and Oregon’s Technology Landscape

Portland, Ore.— June 27, 2012 – The Software Association of Oregon today announced that its board of directors has voted unanimously to update the group’s name to the Technology Association of Oregon.

The new name more accurately reflects the diversity of the Association’s membership.

Updating the Association’s name recognizes the full breadth of the region’s technology community which includes software, hardware, technology services organizations, as well as companies with strong IT development operations. The Association’s current membership includes an array of companies across this spectrum, ranging from Columbia Sportswear and Cambia Health Solutions to Intel, Microsoft, and Google to TripWire and Puppet Labs.

"Our organization represents the region’s diverse technology industry which is attracting tech talent, investors, and entrepreneurs to our area,” said Skip Newberry, president, Technology Association of Oregon. "Our mission as the Technology Association of Oregon is to help our technology industry become one of the most vital economic engines this region has ever seen."

Over the next several months, the Association will be redesigning its website and launching a new brand, as well as making some changes to its internal systems. An official launch event will be held in the early fall.

Additionally, the Association has voted to elect nine technology industry leaders to its board of directors, which brings the total number of board members to twenty-eight. The Board is chaired by David Childers, CEO of Compli.
