2017 Technology Executive of the Year

Portland, Ore. – March 8, 2017 – The Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) announced today the selection of Jill Nelson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ruby Receptionists, as the 2017 Technology Executive of the Year.

This is a milestone accomplishment for both Nelson and TAO, as Nelson is the first woman to receive the honor. Nelson will be recognized as part of the Oregon Technology Awards ceremony on May 11th, now in its 33rd year, which celebrates excellence and achievement within the region’s vibrant technology community.

Nelson has grown this Portland-based business into a multimillion dollar success, which has experienced double-digit growth every year since its inception in 2003. Her signature approach to business, “Practicing WOW-ism,” drives Ruby Receptionist’s growth and success. Anything but rave reviews from customers just isn’t good enough; to Nelson, “fine” is a four-letter word. What started out as a small, service-focused company has evolved into a technology enabled organization with an in-house built technology platform and mobile application that allows the company to scale and grow, serving more than 6,000 customers across the U.S. today.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Technology Association of Oregon, and to be included in such a well-respected and prominent community of leaders,” said Nelson. “Our team’s dedication and collective effort to employ technology to elevate our value and service have fueled the success of our organization, and I couldn’t be prouder of our accomplishments.”

“The Technology Executive of the Year title recognizes excellence in industry leadership as well as an individual’s positive impact in the greater Oregon community,” said Skip Newberry, TAO President and CEO. “We are thrilled to recognize Jill for her contributions and achievements.”
