Although many SAO events are based out of our main office and take place in the Portland Metro region, we also have an active presence in other locations throughout Oregon, including Corvallis, Lane County, Central Oregon, and The Gorge.
SAO chapters are run by local volunteer leadership committees who appoint a representative of their group to serve on the SAO Board of Directors. Each chapter plans educational programs and networking activities according to needs of their local community.
As an organization that supports and represents companies across the state, we know that developing, and maintaining, active groups and strong relationships in all of these communities is vitally important.
We are proud to support each of these groups, and grateful for their hard work and critical contributions to our mission of strengthening the software industry throughout the entire state. We particularly appreciate all of the individuals who volunteer their time to help connect the software and tech communities through the SAO.
If you would like more information about any of these groups, or think that an SAO chapter may be beneficial for your community please contact us.
| Corvallis | Our oldest chapter, Corvallis has a vibrant local organization that
meets on a monthly basis. Their signature Fall event is their "High Tech
After Hours" series, an after-workday gathering of techies and friends
where networking, valuable community information, and peer-to-peer
discussions are combined with fun conversation and great pub grub.
Chapter
president Brian Weldon, of IGT, leads the Corvallis board and guides
the activities and services that the group plans for the local
community. Corvallis has the highest concentration of SAO members
outside of Portland Metro.
|
| Lane County | The very idea of a trade association dedicated to supporting the
software industry in Oregon originated with software professionals in
the Eugene Area. With a solid, and growing industry presence in Lane
County - the role of this chapter becomes more critical all the time.
Morning leadership breakfasts and evening educational events provide
industry members with local opportunities for networking and
professional development. |
| The Gorge | In the Gorge, SAO has a close partner with the Gorge Technology
Alliance. The GTA, located in The Dalles, plans all of the local group
events and activities, including the monthly meetings, and has great
relationships with tech firms throughout the area.
|
| Central Oregon | SAO is excited to announce that the technology community in Central
Oregon is beginning to unite again. A leadership team of professionals
is now forming the Tech Alliance: Central Oregon’s Technology
Association, which is an official chapter of SAO.
The Tech Alliance
will support a variety of tech user groups in the community including
COISUG, COWPU, WoTech, Ignite!Bend and others. |
| Other Regions | Currently SAO does not have any other official chapters, but we are
actively engaged with SAO and other industry members in the following
areas:
- Southern Oregon - We have a great relationship in Southern Oregon with SOHPEC
- Salem -
We are excited to be talking with leaders in the Salem area and are
working to grow our industry presence in the area with Oregon government
offices and agencies.
